Watch Lucifer

Forget the Devil as presented by the Bible, Milton, or Hollywood horror films. The television show "Lucifer" is based on the DC Comics character created by award-winning and bestselling author Neil Gaiman, who has a knack for turning the old and familiar on its head and creating something unexpected.

Bored after millennia of reigning as the King of Hell, and fed up with humans blaming him for their own choices, Lucifer quits his job and leaves Hell for Los Angeles. While some might argue this is not much improvement, Lucifer embraces his new hometown and opens a posh nightclub with a little help from Mazikeen, also known as Maze, the only demon loyal enough to follow her master to the City of Angels. Alternately sympathetic for and contemptuous of humans, Lucifer uses his supernatural powers to expose sinners by compelling them to speak the truth.

Naturally, it is only a matter of time before he finds himself helping the LAPD catch criminals. While it may seem as though Lucifer is on the side of the angels in this regard, Heaven is not so certain, and the angel Amenadiel goes to Los Angeles to convince Lucifer to return to his post in Hell. Lucifer faces his adversaries, both supernatural and mundane, with droll humor and determination not only to enjoy his new freedom, but do something good and useful with it.
